Arduino Mega2560 Rev3 is an electronic board based on the Atmega2560 microcontroller (datasheet). It has 54 digital inputs / outputs (14 of which can be used as PWM outputs), 4 UARTs (serial ports), 16 analog inputs, a 16 MHz crystal oscillator, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header and a reset button. It contains everything needed to support the microcontroller; simply connect to a computer with a USB cable or power it with an AC / DC adapter or battery to get started. It differs from all previous boards in that it does not use the FTDI USB-serial converter but an Atmega16U2 microcontroller programmed as a USB-serial converter. The Arduino MEGA2560 board is compatible with most of the shields supported by the Duemilanove and Uno boards.
