The Xbee Shield allows an Arduino board to communicate wirelessly using Zigbee. It can be used as a serial / USB substitute or you can put it in command mode and configure it to adapt it to a wide variety of transmission networks. It also has male / female connectors to use the digital pins from 2 to 7 and the analog inputs, which are covered by the shield (pins 8 to 13 are not obstructed by the shield; therefore it is possible to use the connectors on the board itself).
