This GSM/GPRS SIM900 shield is the ideal solution to add mobile communication to your electronic projects. Compatible with Arduino and other microcontrollers with a UART interface, it allows you to make calls, send SMS, and connect to the Internet via GPRS.
It supports Quad-Band GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz networks, making it usable worldwide. Thanks to the integrated TCP/UDP stack, it is possible to transmit data to remote servers for IoT applications, telemetry, and remote control.
The serial interface uses standard AT commands (GSM 07.07 & 07.05) and advanced SIMCOM commands, providing full control over network functions. The module features a headphone and microphone jack, making it perfect for voice communication projects.
Additionally, the shield includes a slot for a CR1220 battery (not included), necessary to keep the Real-Time Clock (RTC) active, maintain the time, and ensure synchronization even in the absence of the main power supply.
IMPORTANT! A SIM card (not included) is required for operation, allowing access to the GSM network to make calls, send SMS, and connect to the Internet via GPRS.
Main fetures
Chip: SIM900, a compact and cost-effective GSM/GPRS modem offering extensive functionality.
AT Commands: Supports standard AT commands (GSM 07.07, 07.05) and advanced SIMCOM commands for sending SMS, making voice calls, and connecting to the Internet via GPRS.
Arduino Compatibility: Works with Arduino UNO, supporting serial communication via pins D0 (TX) and D1 (RX), or via pins D7 and D8 for software serial.
Easy Installation: Simply insert a SIM card into the dedicated slot and mount the shield on Arduino to start using it. It can also be used with Arduino MEGA by connecting pins D7 and D8 to RX1 and TX1.
Power Options: Powered via Arduino or an external source (5V-12V DC, at least 1A current). Power selection is managed via a switch on the shield.
Activation Control: The shield can be activated via a physical button on the board or through software using pin D9.
Antenna Connector: Equipped with an SMA connector for an external antenna, improving GSM/GPRS signal reception and transmission. (SMA antenna included).
