Torpedo2 is the new DC-DC converter powered by battery or from another source that provides from 6.5 to 18 VDC, and able to provide 5V and a current of 3 amperes well! It has a triple power source: USB, LiPo battery and external; wide range of input voltage values: from 6.5 to 18 volts; current supplied up to a maximum of 3 ampere; high efficiency, even over 85-90%; charger for single-cell Li-Po integrated; transition from battery power to another source without interruption; output at 5 volts with high stability under load change and low ripple; possibility to turn off the only output, keeping active the step-down converter and the charge; possibility to automatically turn off the output if the power comes from USB connector that is limited to specific 500 mA current; if the battery is available, power is guaranteed by that; charge status LED indicating the charge, the power source in use, the enable output and more.

By connecting to the input of Torpedo a solar panel and providing it with a battery LiPo  you get a virtually eternal power source, useful for example in case of remote sensors where it is difficult to replace batteries or reach with the power cables. So a perfect energy harvesting solution.
