  • GPS Shield for Arduino
Shield specifically designed to interface a GPS, a microSD card and a three-axis accelerometer to an Arduino board . The GPS module (not included) communicates with arduino via a serial communication. The corresponding GPS signal is available on the header and through jumper GPSRX and GPSTX present on the shield and can be routed to Arduino pin 0 and 1 (RX and TX of the hardware serial port ), or 5 and 6, used by the library SoftwareSerial . The shield includes 74HC4050D level converter to allow communication via SPI with the memory card (to save the data received from the GPS module). The signals are connected to ICSP connector so as to allow compatibility also with tabs Arduino Mega . Finally, the pin-strip ACC allows you to connect the accelerometer MMA7361 from Freescale (not included), mounted on a suitable breakout board .
The sensor is powered at 3.3 V and provides an analog signal connected to pin 4 , 3 ​​and 2 for the axes X , Y and Z respectively . Through jumper JREF is possible to connect the VREF Arduino to 3.3 V, so that the value of 1.65 V corresponding to 0g correspond to a value of about 512 obtained from the A / D converter 10 bit Arduino . The board is also a jumper (JGSEL) which allows you to select one of two modes of operation of the accelerometer: connected to GND will have full scale of 1.5 g and a resolution of 800 mV / g; connected to VCC the full-scale switch to 6 g and the resolution to 206 mV / g .
NB the shield comes with SMD components pre-soldered for this reason the installation of the remaining elements presents no difficulty .
