  • APDS-9930 Digital Proximity and Ambient Light Sensor

Breakout board based on the ambient light sensor (ALS),  IR LED and a complete proximity detection system with the Avago APDS-9930. Combined with Arduino / Fishino or other microcontroller, it can be used to measure the intensity of ambient light or detect the movement of an object. The detection of ambient light simulates the response of the human eye, has a resolution of 16 bits, high sensitivity, works with very low brightness (0.01 lux) even if placed behind a dark glass as in a mobile phone. Proximity sensing is calibrated for detection at a distance of 100 mm and works well both in bright sunlight and in dark rooms.

Applications: often used in mobile phones to lock / darken the screen when the phone is held against the ear, in the control of backlighting, security for notebooks and monitors, etc.
