Four-channel on / off radio remote control with relay output and based on the LoRa XTR-8LR-DEC hybrid module. Operating in the 868.3 MHz ISM band and paired with the XTR-8LR-4ZN handheld transmitter (not included), it allows remote loads to be activated at a great distance (a few km in a straight line) and a complete remote control system with feedback .
The XTR-8LR-DEC module is an Aurel half-duplex radio transceiver in which the LoRa Semtech modulation technique is implemented, which ensures long-distance communications, high immunity to interference, high sensitivity and reduced consumption in relation to the distances covered. It has 4 open-collector outputs and two lines for setting the operating mode of the outputs (monostable or bistable). To reduce the average current consumption to less than 1 mA, the XTR-8LR-DEC automatically manages power on and off with a dedicated duty cycle.
When the device is in receive mode, it checks whether a valid transmission is running and, if so, remains in continuous reception for the time necessary for decoding. The module remains active if some outputs are active in bistable mode.
Self-learning procedure
Feed the board with 5 volts continuously (you need a power supply capable of supplying about 300 milliamps) and follow this procedure:
1. press and release the button on the XTR-8LR-DEC module to enter learning mode; the LED flashes rapidly for 10 seconds (after this time the device exits this mode);
2. during this time, press a button on the remote control to associate it with the receiver; the memorization of the code is indicated by the lighting up of the LED on the receiver for 1 second (if an already paired transmitter is memorized, the LED lights up for only 0.5 seconds).
MANUAL LEARNING
As an alternative to self-learning, it is possible to manually define the correspondence between the keys of the handheld transmitter and the output relays of our receiving circuit.
The procedure to be performed is as follows:
1. press and release the button on the XTR-8LR-DEC module to enter learning mode; the LED flashes rapidly for 10 seconds (after this time the device exits this mode);
2. in this period of time, press the button again on the XTR-8LRDEC module: the LED will remain on steady;
3. press the button on the XTR-8LRDEC module again to select the OUT1 output (the LED will flash once to confirm the operation);
4. press the button again (after the LED returns to steady state) to select the OUT2 output (the LED will flash twice) and so on until the desired output;
5. once the desired output has been selected (and the LED remains on steady), press the button of the remote control to be combined with said output; the LED will switch off and then on again, then it will emit a number of flashes corresponding to the number of the output just paired.
After this process the outputs will be activated as expected only in monostable operation mode. Repeat the same procedure for learning a new remote control or a new button on the same transmitter.
OUTPUTS OPERATION
The operating mode of the 4 outputs of the XTR-8LR-DEC module can be set by means of the dip-switches SET1 and SET2.
The methods have the following meaning:
• monostable: the output of the XTR-8LR-DEC module remains active as long as the transmitter button is pressed;
• bistable: the output changes state every time the corresponding button of the remote control is pressed;
• monostable 0.5 s: the output of the XTR-8LR-DEC module remains active as long as the transmitter button is pressed; after releasing the button it remains active for 0.5 seconds.
The setting of the operating mode of the outputs is only detected when the module is switched on; to change the mode it is necessary to switch off the device, change the settings of the DIP-switches SET1 and SET2, then supply power again.
