Ring with Neopixel technology with 12 RGB LED diodes which can be individually managed, each of which can produce 256 shades of its color, resulting in a total of 16,777,216 colors. The data channel for communication is serial One-Wire type and can be controlled with microcontrollers such as Arduino, PIC, mbed, etc. You can set the refresh rate at will, in order to make certain subtle play of light. More rings can be connected in cascade to realize various effects. Power supply: 5 Vdc. Warning! because the protocol is very sensitive to the timing, it requires a real-time as an AVR microcontroller, Arduino, PIC, mbed, etc. It can not be used with a microcomputer based on Linux or microcontroller as Netduino or Basic Stamp. The NeoPixel library Adafruit (www.adafruit.com), freely available is specific for Arduino. |

The Neopixel technology allows to produce RGB LED "intelligent" with onboard controller can be easily integrated into the Arduino through proprietary libraries that Adafruit (www.adafruit.com) makes freely available. A peculiarity of Neopixel LEDs is that they can be connected in cascade so that the data line from one to the next steps, but the price to pay is that beyond a certain number of LEDs, the management of the speed must be reduced significantly; because of that, if you must create matrices to show the fastest graphics it is necessary to use several lines with a few LEDs each. Each RGB LED can be controlled individually via a dedicated command inserted into the serial data stream and can produce up to 256 shades of their color, resulting in a total of 16,777,216 color combinations. Neopixel is basically a solution that provides for the integration of a driver and the corresponding LED RGB in a SMD homes, allowing for direct LED control to LED. The data channel used for communication with the LEDs neopixel and then with the strip is similar to the One-Wire type. The supply provided for Neopixel LED is at 5 volt; communication takes place in a maximum of 800 kbps. The system of Neopixel command protocol involves sending groups of three bytes in a 24-bit string, each of which contains the state of illumination of each base color (first eight bits of green, then those of the red and finally those green). |
