The MMA7455L is a digital output, low-power, low-profile capacitive micromachined accelerometer featuring signal conditioning, a low pass filter, temperature compensation, self-test configurable to detect zero-g through interrupt pins (INT1 or INT2) and pulse detect for quick motion detection. Zero-g offset and sensitivity are factory set and require no external devices. The zero-g offset can be customer calibrated using assigned zero-g registers and g-select which allows for command selection for three acceleration ranges (2g/4g/8g). The MMA7455L includes a standby mode that makes it ideal for handheld battery-powered electronics.
This device can be easily configured to detect quick motion pulses as single taps, double taps, and 0g (free fall) conditions on any or all axes and provides configurable interrupt pins (INT1 and INT2) for each type of event.
It only comes in a leadless LGA-14 package. It's a challenging chip to solder, so we thought a inexpensive breakout board might be useful.
